Welcome to HGT Law
We are a litigation boutique representing individual and institutional investors, businesses and entrepreneurs in a wide variety of litigation matters, including commercial litigation, securities litigation and shareholder advocacy and protection.
On March 17, 2026, HGT Law prevailed in a derivative action brought on behalf of Legend International Investment, LP (“Legend LP”) in the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Riverside, obtaining a judgment for over $10 million. Legend LP was formed to receive foreign investor money under the EB-5 immigrant investor program and to develop a commercial business center in Riverside. HGT Law represented a limited partner in bringing claims derivatively on behalf of Legend LP, alleging that Legend LP’s general partners had unlawfully enriched themselves, their principals, and their affiliates at the expense of the partnership.
On December 3, 2025, HGT Law filed a derivative lawsuit (“Lawsuit”) on behalf of the residents of the Metropolis, a multi-phase, mixed-use master planned community located on a full city block in downtown Los Angeles. The lawsuit is brought against various directors of the board of the Metropolis Master Association (“Master HOA”), as well as the management company of Master HOA, FirstService Residential California LLC (“FirstService,” and collectively “Defendants”). The Lawsuit asserts claims for breaches of fiduciary duty arising from the failure to collect assessments on developer-owned units within the Metropolis project in downtown Los Angeles, and from the conduct of unlawful elections that have disenfranchised the unit owners of the Metropolis project.
On December 9, 2024, HGT Law obtained an order from the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Riverside, appointing a receiver to protect the interests of Legend International Investment LP (“Legend LP”), a limited partnership formed to received foreign investor money under the EB-5 immigrant investor program and to develop a commercial business center and create jobs.
